Jared's sister Sharidee makes the best salsa in the world. I told her next time she does it I want to join her, so she called me last Monday and said they were going to be making salsa. All I needed were 75-80 pounds of tomatoes, 16 green peppers, 9 onions, spices and jars. I did the math and figured I'd spend over 200 dollars on salsa. I don't actually have a million dollars to invest in really yummy salsa, so I had to decline this year. But Luckily she called back and she said she just got done hand picking tomatoes and she got them for less than 25 cents a pound. That's when I got really happy that I decided to call her back AFTER she was all done picking the tomatoes. So off to the Weavers I went for 2 looooong days of jarring salsa. I never knew how much work goes into farming and picking and jarring. I have to say, IT'S WORTH IT (as long as someone else does the farming and picking) I'll never touch another jar of Pace again! All I need is a really nice sister-in-law who will do all the hard work while I sit back and eat fresh salsa. Life's not too shabby around here for me.
Here's Sharidee still smiling after all her crazy hard work!!

Here's Shaylee after blanching, peeling, and processing over 300 pounds of tomatoes.

Here are all of us you husbands can thank for all the home made salsa!!!

Thanks Shanna for being the muscles, and Shaylee for not stabbing us with that knife, and Kenz for adding some spice, and Mom for letting us make a mess of your house, and Shar for making us work really hard!

wow - that is WAY too much work for me. I will just run down to the local grocery store and buy some Pace Picante if I need salsa. I'm very impressed by you guys' hard work! I hope you enjoy the fruits of your labor.
NO WAY! That is not humanly possible. You totally cheated. I guess I will be up all night til I beat your score. grrrrr.
Hey Weavers! Glad to see that no matter where you guys go you always have a good time! It's so fun reading what your family is up to. You are always enjoying life to the fullest. We hope business is going well too. Take care!
Ohhh Yum! Homemade salsa. How do I become a Weaver? But can I just put my order in and not have to actually do any of the work?? ha ha

The salsa...I remember the sals...what fun it looks like you guys had. Tell her she needs to send me the recipe...she can send it to Logan's email if she doesn't have mine. If you have time that is....
O.K. so I don't want to be high mainenance but if i'm going pick that many tomatoes and peppers and onions and, well that's enough, then I want full credit. We made exactly 224 pints of salsa thank you very much. You got lucky this year. Next year you're on tomatoes duty. Maybe you'll be pregnant and can really get the experience. -Shar
Oh Sara, We're so very sorry that your beloved Grandmother passed on to the eternal world. It is such a bitter sweet experience. Eventhough the suffering has ended for your dear Grandma yours will continue with the hole that is left in your life. Will you please accept our love and prayers in an effort to fill that void.
We love you and your family with all of our hearts. The Astle family is a truly remarkable one, which we feel privileged to be a part of.
All of our love and support,
Mom, Dad & the kids
Hi, I came across this blog post searching for salsa jarring recipes. I could really use a taste tested family recipe instead of a Betty Crocker special. Any chance Sharidee who "...makes the best salsa in the world" could share? -Terry (TerrenceTaylor@cinci.rr.com)
