Lately I have had a hard time sleeping and not for reasons expected like tossing and turning to find a comfortable position to sleep with a basketball stuffed under my ribs (although I'm sure that has added to the problem). I think I'm getting nervous to have another baby. With Jackson I was so busy finishing school and working I didn't have time to prepare too much. I got really nervous because I didn't take any birthing classes or read any books and I had zero idea of what actually happened during labor. Luckily Jared's mom is a pro after having 9 children, (most of them natural and at home) she was able to tell me when I was in labor. Jared also helped a lot during labor and it ended up all being very exciting and wonderful. Even though it seemed to work itself out with Jackson and Tanner I feel like an amateur all over again. I'm afraid I won't know what to do in the hospital, what kind of things to pack, how to nurse, how to change a girl's baby diaper, what if I don't wake up in the night when she cries... It's been almost four years since Tanner was born and it seems like an eternity ago. I am banking on everything working itself out and hopefully I'll just remember how to be a mom of a brand new baby again.
Other than that, we are very excited to welcome little baby Annie into our family! Time flew by so fast and I can't believe I'm scheduled to be induced in three days. I wasn't able to nest very much before Jackson and Tanner were born since we were in the process of moving to VA with Jackson and we were too broke with Tanner. With this one I've had a lot of fun getting the nursery ready and buying all the little bows, dresses and shoes!! Now it's just a matter of a small countdown until I can get to use all of these things and hopefully take good care of a brand new baby!! Wish us luck because I'm sure we'll need it!!!

you are getting induced in 3 days!! wow. i thought we were closer than that. i still have 3 1/2 weeks. i loved hearing all your feelings. i just read a little article this afternoon about "postpartum discomforts" and it scared me because all the memories of pain and sleeplessness came flooding back. yikes! i hear ya on the being nervous thing. but i always thought you were so good at being a mom - you just did it without all the fuss of reading a bunch of books and i think that is good. and i loved how you told me that you liked the challenge of giving birth. such a good outlook. good luck! i'm so excited for you to have a GIRL! I just started "nesting" too. I loved washing, folding and organizing these little girl's clothes. It's a sort of high almost. so exciting. do you like my novel of a comment? well, the longer the comment the better of a friend, don't you think?
3 days! Wahoo - hope it goes really well for you. I didn't realize it was so soon. I can't wait to see her. Your boys are so darn cute. I wonder if she'll look just like them.
You have the BEST mother-in-law when it comes to birthing and all the new baby stuff, she was there for me when I had our first 2 (one adopted and one natural). Just depend on her and use your motherly instint, it will kick in and you will be fine.
Oh I am so excited for you guys!! Every day I look at our little girl and I just love having her in our family. Little girls are very special. I know you will do a fabulous job with another little one in the house and I don't think you need to worry too much about not hearing her cry at night. She'll make sure you know she's there. :) Good luck!
You think it's bad for you? I'm so nervous that I've forgotten how to be a long-distance uncle to a new born that I can hardly fall asleep for worrying about it! I just have to keep eating ice cream and telling myself I'll do just fine.
A tip for having a little girl - 1. You must always wipe DOWN when cleaning a diaper - more holes to get stuff in than a boy. and 2. They can still pee in the air, and on you when changing a diaper.
That is my advice. You will be fine!
Sara,
You are such an awesome mom, I don't know how you're even worried. And girls are soooo much easier to change than boys. Congratulations. I hope everything is perfect with the birth and I can't wait to meet her.
If I'm counting correctly, then tomorrow is the big day. That is so exciting! Please post pictures as soon as you get a chance. Enjoy your first few days with you new baby girl. I predict dark hair!
as I am reading this I am realizing you are probably in labor as I am typing this thing so I'm debating on if I should call or not...ahhh...what to do...I guess I'll first wish you luck and congratulate you at the same time...hope things go well! You are a wonderful mom!
You'll do fine. Oh, hey, it's Jan 6, and you already delivered Annie, and you did fine. CONGRATULATIONS!
I don't have any advice for raising girls (or boys, for that matter), but ours turned out great, so just do whatever we did. Wish I could remember what that was.
Good luck! We are so excited that you guys are getting your little girl. Let us know how everything goes, and send lots of pictures. We need to get together with you guys soon.
